The 6/2/09 City Council meeting will address the allocations for the DOE EECBG.  NCEC will encourage Council to allocate at least $20K for public outreach/education about energy efficiency and will discourage spending funds on the Parking Guidance System based on the assumption the ROI for the proposed project is not favorable.

3. RESIDENT EDUCATION PROPOSAL
NCEC will continue to prepare a Resident Education proposal to deliver to the City of Naperville with strategy/tactics and associated costs/timing.
4. OPEN DISCUSSION/UPDATES

·         Board Member Chris Martersteck recommended NCEC consider joining Clean Air Counts·         Please attend Recycling Extravaganza - 6/6/09. Michelle Hickey-Fouts will email volunteer schedule this week and is all set for volunteers.

  • IMEA has formed an energy efficiency committee and will most likely begin a relationship which will allow the City of Naperville to offer “Apogee” self-home-energy-audits online.  The committee has also begun conversations with DCEO to administer energy efficiency programs (similar to those available to and funded by ComEd/Ameren customers).
  • Mark Skowron spoke with Best Buy’s Matt Polito (630-866-9166) who said that home energy audits can be performed for Chicagoland homes <4,000 square feet for $299 — or less possibly (quantity discount).  Matt said that homes with more than 4,000 sq. ft. and high ceilings prove to be challenging for a standard “Blower Door” because of the volume of air that needs to flow for adequate infrared imaging.
  • Legislative update:
    • HB3987 Residential EE Building Codes Bill Passed
    • SB1918 Natural Gas Efficiency Bill Passed
    • Clean Cars Bill – Overshadowed by new Federal CAFE standards
